Natural health and children

We are what we eat!. This has never been more true. Our diets are full of chemicals and additives if we consume boxed or canned or fast foods. Who knew that these would be our nemesis. Chronic diseases, allergies and fatigue plus other myriad complaints are all easily attributable to these additives or preservatives which our bodies reject as foreign. Built up after copious consumption may even cause more serious consequences.
McDonalds and Wendy's will never tell you but addictive substances are suspected. it has been proven that extra sugar and salt are present in all their gooodies, even the so-called healthy choices. Children follow our example and are very prone to advertisement and less nutritionally valid choices. Even made with real potatoes french fries should never be considered anything but a snack and not necessarily a wise one at least more than once per week. Potatoes and corn should be considered starches which they are and fats with the way we often consume them, saturated of course.
I would love to see fresh veges offered, like carrots, celery and zucchini or peppers but preservatives would probably be more of a problem. At least at home we can help our families to get these choices. Pureed in sauces or in cassaroles or soups is a good way to introduce new tastes. Get acquainted with all the interesting spices that are so much healthier than salt. I tried EVO and paprika on corn and found a slightly sweet taste even thought the corn was not sweet as earlier.
